I believe in things seen and unseen. Walking almost daily along the Highline Canal Trail near Denver, I am mesmerized by the striations of light and dark falling at beautiful angles across sand and gravel. Your point of view may not include the trees or grass or leaves themselves, but you know they are there—the evidence is in their shadows.
